It is being reported that the new Android Dream HTC Phone, the T-Mobile G1 will be released on October 13th on pre-order. Existing T-Mobile customers will be able to pre-order the phone apparently from September 17th to October 3rd.
The price if you pre-order is set to be $199, and you have to be a post-paid customer. TmoWorld say that the documents they have include these specifications:
- Touch Screen
- Full Qwerty keyboard
- 3G/ WiFi
- Full HTML internet capabilities
- Easy access to all Google applications (Gmail, Gtalk, search)
- Maps
- Street view
- You Tube
- Phone
- IM/Text
- Email
- Camera 3.0mp
- Video (playback only, no recording)
- Music player & 1GB memory card pre-loaded
- Applications, all available in Google marketplace (icon on the homescreen)
It is strange because one thing people seemed to be so excited about was GPS which seems to have been omitted. That is quite surprising, although this list isn’t official as of yet. If you look at the specifications it says “Maps”, this could be GPS however.
T-Mobile is set to make an announcement on September 17th about how customers can pre-order. If you are on FlexPlay or Prepaid you will have to wait for the phone on general release.
The $199 will be charged to your existing T-Mobile account with an $18 upgrade. There are set to be two plans, one $25 and another $35. You will also need a Gmail account in order to set up the phone.
