Android Market: The Place to get your Android Applications

by Patrick Martin on August 28, 2008

Google have announced the system they will use to get applications developers have created to mobile users. It’s called Android Market. Google say it will be a bit like You Tube and they want to make it as open and easy as possible for developers to make their applications available.

Android Market will be available in a Beta version on the first Android powered handsets. This will initially probably support free applications but then as things progress paid content will become available.

The idea of a market place rather than a store turns Android Market into a kind of You Tube like shop. You could say a You Tube iTunes morph. I think we are now seeing why Android has a good chance of succeeding. If this system works as well as it’s potential it could be a big hit for developers and consumers.
