The G1 Phone Jumps Across to the UK

by Patrick Martin on November 1, 2008

The G1 phone has reached the UK, it was released on Thursday.  25,000 people pre registered for the phone when it was first announced and on the morning of the phones release people were queing outside the T-Mobile shop in Oxford Street London.

The price of the phone will start at £40 monthly with a T-Mobile package.  It will be very interesting to see if it does as well in the UK as it has done in the US.  Early indications show that sales are going very well.  Opinions seem to be split on whether people want the white phone or the black style one.  Black looks best to me but we all have our own tastes.

In the UK, mobile internet use and up take of mobile search is very high.  Google has a huge percentage of market share in terms of non mobile internet search in the UK, far outstripping Yahoo and Microsoft.  They will be hoping to do the same in the mobile market in the long run.  For now they will just be looking for solid opening sales of the G1 phone.
