Google gave us a peek this week at the Android software system. They have been working on it steadily for a while now and everything seems to be coming together ready for the first mobile devices to come out in the final six months of the year as they have always said.
The phone is going to take how we use mobiles phones to the next level. Some of the technology that the Android platform allows for surpasses what is currently available on the iPhone. The iPhone took us to one stage of mobile technology and development and Android is now pushing that further.
At the conference in San Fransisco where Google gave a demo of Android, what most impressed was the ability to use the device as a compass, impressively even in street view.
The use of the internet is moving from PC’s to mobiles. Google wants to be at the front of this transition, this is where Google can continue to take the fight to Microsoft. It will be interesting to see what the future holds and if Android becomes dominant.
Around the world people are waiting in anticipation for Google Android. Just how long we have to wait now only a few know. With the introduction of the new iPhone 3G it makes everything more interesting in the mobile market.
