If you’ve been reading anything in the blogosphere technology related over the last few days then you will know that T-Mobile is going to be the first carrier of Google Android. It’s not such a big surprise really, there has been speculation as I’ve reported before that T-Mobile will be the first Google Android carrier, forums and blogs have been speculating for a while.
HTC will make the new phone and it’s rumoured to be called the Dream. Google has been using the “Dream” for it’s open source demo’s. Here is a video of it, and a photo here.

As we know, this new HTC phone will be competing with the iPhone. It has to be something special if it is going to compete with the iPhone, in terms of both usability, style and what you can do with it.
I’m in no doubt that in terms of applications, developers are producing some fantastic software for Android despite the complaints that Google have not been open enough about development processes. The main issue for many people is the style and usability of the HTC Dream Phone. Apple have really raised the bar with the iPhone with years of development and testing. Hopefully HTC won’t rush out their Android phone and not make it as outstanding as it could be. They have a real chance here.
The reason I’m concerned with this is that people will judge Android on the first phones that use the platform. If it’s not up to the iPhone’s standards in terms of style and usability it won’t be as popular. It’s not going to be a failure though, with the power of Google behind it and the speculation we have already seen about the phones I am sure Android will be a success. You have to offest the users who want the power of Android with the people who want the style of the iPhone.

Let’s see what people think when it actually comes out. Don’t get your hopes set too high or you will be disappointed.
