Google Releases SDK Beta 0.9

by Patrick Martin

Google has released the latest version of its Software Development Kit (SDK).  Google explains that the first SDK’s were to give developers an idea of what to expect from Android, but this release 0.9 is a beta and is almost the final version.

This launch is to give developers who want to have a look at a more mature SDK a chance to delve into something more like the finished article.

Google says the first handsets will be shipped in the fourth quarter of this year which means the SDK 1.0 will be ready before then.  Google does warn that the just released SDK 0.9 may not be fully compatible with the 1.0 but it is as close as developers are going to get at the moment to what will be used on the first handsets.

It has been a very big week for Android and all of the consumers who have been waiting for the product to arrive. Let’s see if Google can deliver or if the public will be unimpressed once it finally arrives.
