Amazingly it looks like someone at iPhone Dev has managed to install Linux on the iPhone, which in theory opens the door for Android to be installed on the iPhone. This is being talked about with excitement already.
In fact this was always going to be a possibility, an exciting one at that. All those people who like bit’s of the iPhone and bits of Android might be able to have everything in one place on one iPhone.
That’s still a fair way off to be honest, as installing Linux on the iPhone is only in it’s first stages, but still…

An embarrasing bug found on the G1 Phone has been fixed by Google. After starting up the phone if a user then typed “reboot”, the phone would reboot.
The bug was found accidentally by a user who happened to type “Reboot” into his phone.
Google moved quickly to fix the problem, users in the US are already reporting having received the update and according to the BBC, users in the UK will have the update by 12th November.
The G1 has had surprisingly few bugs for a phone that is based on a completely new platform and is the first phone to use it.

Have you ever thought that you were a bit disappointed with the lack of main stream coverage of the T-Mobile G1 Phone? I have to say that I thought there would be more advertising spend to announce the launch.
Maybe that was the plan by Google and T-Mobile because they have announced that over two days next week they will be buying one billion ad impressions over AOL’s Platform A ad network.

Since the release of the T-Mobile G1 Phone it seems that it has been comparison after comparison of the new first Google Android phone with Apple’s iPhone. I’m not surprised by that at all, I think we have waited so long for the release of the first Android phone that we all couldn’t wait to compare it to the iPhone.
It’s amazing how much humans love to compare things, if we get a chance we jump at it. I don’t deny though it’s pretty interesting to see how the two devices match up.

Visa are developing an application for the Google Android mobile platform that will enable mobile users to pay for goods and services using their phone as well as receive information about activity on their bank accounts.
Visa is not only working with Google Android though. Plans are in place for Nokia’s new 6212 phone to have payment processing capabilities next year. The technology will allow mobile devices to be used like credit cards, effectively placing your wallet into your phone.

It looks like sales of the T-Mobile G1 phone are going well. T-Mobile has had to increase production of the handsets to keep up with the pre-sale demand. The phone won’t be available until October 22nd but it seems that people can’t wait to get their orders in.
T-Mobile have predicted that they will sell 500,000 handsets by the end of 2008 and there are other predictions from HTC that they will have sold 2 million by the end of 2009.

Google obviously wants to dominate online markets in Asia, they surely want to become especially dominant in the Chinese market as they already are in the US and Europe. China is a huge market that is growing so incredibly fast it’s hard to keep up. There are 601 million mobile phone users in China at the moment, and between January and June 2008 there were 53.3 million more mobile users.

The overall consensus of opinion seems to be that the G1 phone has impressed on the announcement of it’s release. Something that you can’t fail to be impressed by is the Google Maps feature. With the compass that’s built in you can use Google maps to get a feel of where you are and then use Streetview to actually view where you are.
